On May 3, 2024 the Victoria Hall Volunteers hosted An Evening with the Rt. Hon. Beverley McLachlin, a conversation between Beverley and Justice James O’Reilly.
As the first female Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, Beverley is a trailblazer and her experience and sharp legal mind made for an interesting evening. The sold out audience enjoyed the stories, the answers to their questions and the unexpected laughs that echoed through the Concert Hall. Before the evening, began Beverley had a tour of Victoria Hall including the deep well courtroom which is perhaps the only one of its kind in Canada. How fitting that she took her place in the judge’s chair.
As the Rt. Hon. Beverley McLachlin said, “I returned home with warm memories of the lovely town of Cobourg and its warm and welcoming people. I am so glad this will help you in your efforts to maintain the marvelous Victoria Hall.”
